Called and said they had detected someone breaking in to my computer. Knew my name and a problem I had had from over a year ago with my computer. It was odd because it was a call out of the blue. I reported it to Dell and the FTC. Seems that Dell must have had a data breach for someone to get that much information just related to them.

Called me today, also said he was from Dell. He knew all the details of my service call to Dell last year but I knew he wasn't from Dell. I laughed at him and told him and told he was a scammer. He became pissed and said don't blame Dell when the hacker wrecks your computer. BEWARE

Same here. There must be some way for the public to access Dell service tag numbers. Maybe a Dell support site is inadvertently exposing them. Anyway, don't let these guys fool you. Tell them you'll call Dell if you have any problems. Always keep it polite. But don't ever give away any information. Just keep saying you'll call Dell if you have any problems.

Caller said was with Dell Support team. He even knew my service ID tag number. Said my computer was being hacked into. Tried to get me to purchase product to protect computer. I think he was after my credit card number. Was very convincing
