They called me and said they (she) were from Microsoft Licensing and asked I f I was infront of my computer I said no and how did you get my cell #. She then went on about I registered with them and could not get into how they got my #. I said why would Microsoft not just email me and she said she would call back Wednesday at 4 pm. I called Microsoft and reported what was said, they said sounds like a scam. I have been getting calls from this # for 2 weeks first time I answered it today.

Yeah, I’ve had 3 calls from them so far calming to be with Wal-Mart and we been selected to receive $200 gas card, just need my CC# to bill me shipping charge. Lol Plan to take one of my cards that I don’t like anymore and report it stolen/messing, next time they call, give them that card # after playing their little game.
First one sounded little a fat nasty Jamaican lady, other 2 was a shy sounding Nigerian

Good for you!
I think they get your name off anything you fill out on the internet or even contest forms you fill out in stores. I usually make a deliberate mistake in my name when I have to sign in anywhere or give a child's surname and if anything comes back with that name or if I get a phone call stating the name I used, I know where they got it from. Of course all websites will tell you that they will never give your name to anyone but they still do and stores do also. I tried to complain to the phone company (Bell Canada) but they will not do anything. A friend of mine was daily harassed by a similar caller and she ended it by telling the guy to ''hold the line, my local police is listening in and they want you to answer a couple of questions...'' no use telling you they hung up and never called again!
You could give it a try if they bother you again!

called today, Oct. 31, 2011 @ 2:30pm Shane said, my computer is infected and about to crash. Avoided comany name, but, from California, associated with Windows. NOT. He passed me on to Manager: Mike Watson. He wanted me to open windows with flag key and change the password to something like foxtrot... They both were Indian - Packistanian accents. I refused... said he could be crashing my computer. Da.... BE SAFE!!! If not sure, don't do, listen to your inner true self.

A man pretending working for Microsoft and telling that our computer was in danger to crash. He wanted to guide me step by step in order to resolve the problem! Whan I ashed if if had a french language service, he told me he was very sorry but during the week-end, the is unfortunately no french service. He was insisting about the fact that it was very urgent. I didn't feel confident about it.

A man with a thick accent tells me he's from Microsoft (I think that's what he said) and told me that my computer is sending a lot of error messages. He wanted me to go to my computer. He asked me to hold the line while his supervisor would guide me through the process. I hung up the phone and it rang twice immediately afterward...same number. I didn't pick up.

Phone Number Report: A person with a strong accent pretends to be from Microsoft and tries to gain access to my computer in order to erradicate a supposedly dangerous virus. According to PhoneBusters (Canadian Website where you can report fraudulent activity), these people try to sell you a program that they will install on your computer (in exchange of your Credit Card No. of course) and clean your computer (as well as in the meantime accessing your personal info). People have been charged from 40 to 470$ for the scam program and had info like bank account no or credit card no. stolen from their computers. If they call you, hang up!!! Never give any info. Microsoft will never call you if you did not call them first!!!!!
