Yes, same type of incident. Caller claiming to be Jack Hoffman with thick Indian accent left messages twice on our home phone. When I called inquiring as to his messages, the man stated there was an arrest warrant on our physical address. When I asked to talk to someone who could speak clearer English, he put me on hold and then cut me off. I called back and stated that I thought he was operating a scam; then he himmed and hawed, and said he would make certain the man did not bother us again. Very weird.
That Jeff/Jack Hoffman called today, left message almost unaudible. Indian accent. I didn't answer my caller Id said Dallas, TX.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Strong Indian accent representing himself as IRS regarding an investigation on my physical address."
IRS Impersonator stating that the IRS has issued an arrest warrant for me and that my physical address is under investigation.
Received a voicemail from this number today. Called back from my office phone and got a fast busy signal after a few rings. Called again from my cell phone. A guy answered as Investigative Unit of the IRS. I said I was returning his call and he asked for the number to which he had called. I gave it to him and he said he couldn't find it in his system and because of the sensitive nature of the matter he could not share any information with me. I informed him that the call was a scan and that I was reporting him. I also told him that he is on notice not to call my number again. He kept trying to cut me off, asking why I thought it was a scan. Really? Because it is a scam. Please beware everyone!! Don't give out any information.
I reported at https://www.treasury.gov/tigta/ and clicked the red IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting.
