I received a Robo phone call from the "CRA" telling me they were going to sue me. I have a small business and freaked out until I read this post. Relieved that its not real but feel sheepish that I fell for it.

Got a call with the same robo-female-voice about a law suit from CRA. final notice. called back and it clicked into a machine playing psychadelic elevator music. strange..

Received same phone message from 613-927-9687. Did not call back and decided to google about this.

Received a call from these people as well. They were using 613-927-9687. Same as all the other accounts of their actions here. Hung up and did not provide any personal information.

I got this call as well. Amazing that people smart enough to organize this scam are stupid enough to do it. A-holes!

Yes they called me as well on my land line claiming they were CRA & a lawsuit was pending.
When I called back the line was busy. although a different number
they gave me 613 927 9687 The call was abrupt & to the point about the legal action. It was a voice recording

Female robot voice informing me that the CRA is filing lawsuit. Rrigghht.... as if the CRA leaves threatening messages through an automated system on people's answering machines. Ridiculous. In my case, what I find peculiar is that the CRA *was* asking questions at our last tax return. It is almost as if the CRA was hacked and these scammers in a call center in India, or else a bunch of people running an illegal operation elsewhere (in Canada perhaps even). I have the feeling they got hold of some information. Something that allows them to target victims more closely. While most people are skeptical about calls like this, and/or investigate by asking questions, there are people that are more vulnerable. I can imagine that some elderly people are more easily victimized. Or people that have other weaknesses. People where the actual CRA were in contact for whatever reason. Another issue I have is why is BELL making all of this possible? Ultimately, isn't it their traditional telephone network that routes all the calls? Sure there are all kinds of companies, but in order to make a call, you have to be access the phone network. Why can scammers fake the caller ID? Why didn't BELL built in a safety of sorts where making up caller ID becomes very difficult? Why does the government, the CRTC, not mandate that the telephone system has better safety guards? There are different ways of making the phone ring for instance. It seems all very slacky and very wishy washy the way the whole communication system is slapped together. Another problem I find is the new 911 systems for the hearing impaired. If only people knew how utterly ridiculously convoluted that system is. I bet you a million dollars that this WILL cost lives! The way it's mickey moused together is beyond pathetic - trust me, I've seen the specs. Oh, my, god, such crap! But that's another topic. My point is that the CRTC, the communication systems, phone system in particular, BELL, are all very complacent, and scammers know how to exploit it.

Me too. I just received a call. This is disturbing.

Told him that I needed the exact time they would arrive to carryout the warrant for my arrest so that the OTTAWA POLICE could be here to arrest them. He called my another name for a DONKEY and hung up on me
