A caller from this toll free number called the home an elderly couple, asking for someone by name that resembled the name of a relative, and then spinning a story that it was an urgent call, that they were supposed to have an important business meeting in a neighbouring city, and that they needed personal information now about that individual- including social insurance number, credit card #, etc. The caller refused to identify themselves or from what company they were calling. The fact is, no one in the elderly couple's family has any business with the company named in previous posts, nor has any business meeting in the quoted city with anyone. Given indications in past posts, there is also no indebtedness among anyone in the family.

It appears that the cohort of fraudsters are certainly persistent, despite ever mounting police investigations, prosecutions and the enhancements in cyber security.

It does raise the question- here we have callers emanating from the same number, but even if it is a IP-generated skype(-like) number associated to no physical location, surely law enforcement by now should be not only hot on their heels but shutting these bastards down.

That demographic trends spell out an increase in the number of seniors, among whom a proportion are vulnerable, is not a license to so flagrantly exploit commit fraud, and harass and con decent people.

There may very well come a breaking point where citizens are forced to take matters into their own hands to deal with and pick off these vermin one by one, and not way for "authorities" to deign to find the time to intercede- as otherwise mandated

This company keeps caller for someone we don't even know.. Same last name as us. They said it is urgent matter. Called and left message telling them they have wrong number. Company is Gatestone?

They are the collection agency that collects on overdue Reliance accounts.

They are SCAMMERS! Crooks. They make robocalls using directories. Claimed they were calling from my local library and that I had to pay them a fine. I have nothing owing to the library. The city library confirmed. Don't let these dirty crooks get you.

I got a new cell phone back in November and signed up with President's Choice pay as you go plan. I have a feeling the cell phone number they gave me is from someone else that cancelled their service. I have been getting calls that are for a Cathy G....... and this is not me. It's regarding "a collection matter" is the voice mail they left me. I will call them back and tell them to stop. If this is a caller from U.S. like stated above, I am Canadian BTW. This is eating up my pay as you go minutes.....urggggh.

I got called from this number. They called themselves Gatestone, which is the new name of Collectcorp. They said that they had an "urgent matter " to discuss with me. It's got to be a scam. I have absolutely no debt as well as a good credit rating and they got my name wrong. My first initial is 'C' in my city's telephone directory. They called me "Chris", which is not my name. It's clear that they just took a stab at what my first initial meant, and used a unisex name, doubling their chances of getting it right.

They're also some stories of how some got of the list but I do remember reading other stories of people saying they weren't who they were and just getting yelled at by the company!

This phone number has called me so many times and at one point I called back and someone answered right away (so I hung up)! They leave a recorded message so I thought they'd have an answering machine...anyway, I did a reverse look up and it brought me to a company website...when you click on it, it either says "get a career or pay now"...
When a did a bit more research, it said something like it conglomerated with one of the other biggest collection agencies in the world...
My brother works in litigation and he's a business man (he's one that knows every business)...not only did he not here of them but just to be sure (since he has the tools) he did a credit check on me! I already knew that I always keep a clean credit card and I'm debt free and I was right...we also joked that if someone was trying to steal my identity, they definitely did not get the jackpot!
Now I see here this call is from the US but I'm getting mine in Canada so who knows how far this thing extends...
All I have to say is that they can't be that huge if they're calling all over the world and picking up after one dial and to make their cohones extra small, they can't even call someone person to person! Two reasons, it's cheaper and it's not "really" telemarketing if you're calling them!
I know I went on for long but I'm sick of this...it's been at least two months...I really hope others share too!
