TheThis telephone number doesn't actually exist - There is NO 977 exchange in the 843 area code.That's why when you try to call it back, you get a disconnected number message or a continual ring. It's a computer "tester" dialing program fishing for live phone numbers. The software they're using sends out a false caller ID number. If you answer the call, or even if your answering machine or voice mail picks up the call, the tester knows it has found a live account that is NOT a fax machine. The Spanish message is gibberish, doesn't actually say anything. Once your number is recorded, it is sold to telemarketers as an active line. SO, PEOPLE, MAKE SURE YOUR HOUSE AND CELL PHONE NUMBERS ARE REGISTERED AT THE FEDERAL DO-NOT-CALL LIST - www.donotcall.gov

They tried to phone me while I was in school, missed the call but I looked it up on everycall and found out it was from SC. It's annoying that they would phone from there since I live in Alberta and my phone is pay as you go, so it costs me money that I do not have.

Got a call yesterday (10/13/10) at 7:54pm PST from (843) 977 2121 and they left a voice msg, some lady speaking what appears to be spanish.

The (843) area code is South Carolina.

iPhone says the call originated from Charleston, SC. I don't know who it is. Using iBlacklist to block the number.

I got a call from the same number on my cell phone. During that time, I couldn't answer the phone because I was busy with my baby, trying to put her to sleep. I tried to call back like 3 times and everytime the line was busy. Then I decided to check this number on the internet and I found out that many poeple have gotten phone calls from this number too ( 843-977-2121). I hope they won't call me again. I have enough from all advertsing calls in my home number every day. It is annoying and disturbing.

Got a call from 843 977 2121. I just got this phone and only 3 people have my number, so I ignored this one. I'm assuming it's a telemarketer, as I've seen this number come up online as such.

You can take a minute to file a complaint about this number with the FTC--it really only takes a moment. If enough complaints are received, then maybe something will be done. Recorded messages (except from a few types of groups, i.e charities) are illegal. You do not have to be registered on the Do Not Call list to report this type of illegal call (though you can register at the site listed below while you are making your complaint if you like).

My husband and I just reported the calls to our phones. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO REPORT THESE CALLS.
