I received a call from this number as well, but I do not answer calls anymore from numbers that I do not recognized. When the phone was ringing, the caller ID read "Egypt".
They left a message stating that I was being suit by the IRS, but there is no point of calling back since it is obviously a scam. All correspondence from the IRS is by mail; they never call.

I received a call minutes ago, from a man with a strong accent telling me I was being sued by the IRS. He told me I owed $1985.93 and asked if I had a lawyer to represent me. He said I owed for 5 years. When I told him my last name had changed -- he immediately hung up. I called back and he told me that I was wasting his time and to stay where I was.

It was a robo call. When I called back to complain about getting this call, and wanting something in writing, a man with an Indian accent told me I would be arrested tomorrow AM. I hung up.

I received a call this morning, 7:30am 1-27-2016 from a automated vm stating a lawsuit was being filed against me by the IRS and to call 1 (202) 754-8443. So, startled and confused, I called back. The only piece of information that I gave was my name. I was not going to give out any information other than that. The man stated that after pulling up my file, I was behind on my federal taxes between 2008 and 2013, according to section 101. He said my unpaid balance which included unpaid taxes, litigation and legal fees was $1985.93. He asked me if I understood these charges and documental informations? I said, "I do not understand and quite frankly disagree. I have filed my taxes every year through Turbo Tax and through a professional tax consultant this past year for 2014. Never had I received one iota of info saying that I owed any money or had any discrepancies. Some years I had to pay the IRS, and others I received funds back." I also mentioned that I am aware of with hard evidence the accusations against the IRS for fraud against conservative Christians, such as myself, and think that you and your institution are full of it." As soon as I said this, he disconnected the line. I then came to the internet and looked up the phone number I had documented on my phone and it had several other people, with different or somewhat similar speculations as to this being fraud. Everyone has the ability to be audited, for sure, as a part of citizenship in the U.S., but if I were really being pursued for a lawsuit, I would have received something regarding this accusation in the mail or even in a voicemail between 2008 and 2013 or even 2014 and/or 2015. My number has changed in over 10 years. Why now all the sudden? Why the immediate hang up when I mentioned my own speculations on the legitimacy of the claims. Smells fishy to me. Be careful everyone and use your common sense.

They called me today too.. someone needs to stop these folks who are trying to commit identitiy fraud and phish for information

Called and left message - it was a recording saying the IRS was filing a lawsuit. Checked it out online and appears to be a scam. I'm not calling it back.

Said they were the IRS and I was being sued. Told me to call their departmental number of 202-754-8443 right away.

They just called me didn't answer so all I got was automated message saying call this number back which I'm not gonna do

Called by recording from this number. Said it was the IRS contacting me in a final attempt before they file a lawsuit. Told me to call a number.
