The telemarketer stated that the US Government was giving away grants and my phone number was selected. They were calling to inform individuals with good credit and no bankruptcy filings in the last three years they qualify to receive $8400 free money from the government. the money was to be disbursed right away if I provided a means to have it routed, credit/prepaid card or checking or savings account number.
They government would send the money if I made a donation of $200 to a starving country for food. I was told if I make the donation and chose not to provide my account number, someone would be at my door in two hours to hand deliver the check from the government for $8400.

A man called me and told me that he was calling from Washington DC, from the Grant department or something like that, I was difficult to understand and there was a lot of noise.
I could not understand anything else and he hunged up.
For what I have read here, I believe that is a scam

forgot his name,
very foreign accent hard to understand,sounded like east india accent.
called to tell me I had been awarded some grant money for being a good person and paying my bills on time.I mean come on ! grant money for being a good boy, really.
He repeatedly asked for my bank account number, or a credit card number.
so I simply told him why don't you just mail it to me and would he like my address.
so he says to me "I allready have your address" a little disturbing, maybe?
When I kept telling him to mail it to me. Then he gets mad and hangs up.
I encourage you all to do the same< or you could call him names and you hang up.
Anyway these pricks should all be arrested . trying to steal honest peoples money.

Miss the call, I called them back the number is not a working number. No message was left. Shame on people who try to scam the hard working individual. I wish I could sue all of them for the harassing calls and getting my number.

Called saying I qualified for government money for not having a bankruptcy on my credit report. I said he was a liar and a cheat and he admitted to trying to get my bank info.

I believe he is offering scholarships but he mumbles so much, I'm not sure.
