I have blocked so many numbers from these idiots til it's not funny. it seems the check is always from WinnDixie and in my case this was true too...I did not have an account with the bank she mentioned nor did I live at the address she mentioned, not ever. I called my CU and they told me to get a copy of the check mailed to me. My daughter who works in collections for a bank told me that a bank will never third party out a matter like that, ever. It is a scam and they have been bothering me for about a year now. I block numbers only to have a new one pop up after a few weeks or a month or so. Relentless....is there anyway to stop this harrassment>?

I received a call from a lady who identified her self as a representative of Data Checks of America , asking me to clear up a matter were I had written a bad check on a closed account drawn on First Alabama Bank. I was asked to pay $176.00 to clear up a check for $6.42 written to Winn-Dixie back in 1995. That's 21 years ago. I told her I never received notice of any bad check and asked her to send documentation to me in the mail. She said this had to be paid today. I ask could she text a copy of the check. She did text me a copy of the check and it was a check my check, but still no history or information other than the front of the check. I told her I would mail a money order for $6.42 because I could not afford to pay $177.00. She then put her supervisor on who reduced the amount to $100.00, then to $76.00 because I had moved several times over the course of 21 years. I refused to give credit information. She said I would be contacted by a lawyer next and also summoned to court. She also threatened me by saying that the next day this check would be reported against my credit history and I would never be able to open another checking account. " You would think that our Federal Government would protect us from these people and others who call us at home on Sunday morning before 9:00am and after 5:00pm Sunday even when you are trying to enjoy your Family, or any other day for that matter. Peace ? There is no Peace in this country when it comes to phones ( scams , people trying sale you something ). Surely we are important, especially our Young and our Old.

Received a call from this number, man (didn't catch his name) but said he was from Data Check and said I owed $177.55 for a $7.55 check written to Winn Dixie in 1998 from a Regions account. I needed to pay him $177.55 or my current debit card would be restricted for use at most businesses. He was going to flag my "account" and begin collection proceedings through legal action if not paid right now. I informed him I did not have a Regions account in 1998 and IF I owed anything, the business would have contacted me through the local DA Office. Also, there is a statute of limitations on "returned checks" unless it is a cashier's check, traveler's check, and I think money order; of 3 years in my state; if no move had been made to collect on it within those 3 years, it was considered a moot point and void, and that he was full of crap and had called an attorney and his call was being recorded by ME. The number came from Mableton, Georgia. I contacted the District Attorney and filed a complaint against this number in Georgia. He has not called me back.

this is the 7th number I've received calls from threatening legal action over a "zombie debt" from 13 years ago. they will take my credit card info over the phone but won't provide a postal address. SCAM!

Watch OUT! Scam Debt Collectors called DATA CHECK. Just block there # into your cell phone. This company of NY crooks (probably in a basement from The Bronx) have at least 30+ phone numbers from several states trying to collect on ZOMBIE DEBT. Just don't answer, let it go to VM, and block the #. I have over 2 dozen blocked.

I was contacted by a lady who never identified herself beyond "I'm with data check of america" demanding I send her $300, today, for a $13 check written 21 years ago. I asked for some sort of proof and was told they couldn't email me or snail mail me anything. She then threatened me by saying that if I didn't pay her today, she would "have me before a judge for criminal intent". I looked the number up online in a reverse directory and found it listed as a fraud/scam
