Guess I will be flagged as one of the were some of the prior "scammers" here, BUT, this is a legitimate phone number - 800-879-2674. It is a National Fraud Clearing House for all financial institutions, i.e., Banks and Credit Unions. Depending on which card you have, they will ask you to call the number of your Bank or Credit Union to verify what might "possibly" be fraudulent charges. Sometimes it will be fraud and sometimes just careful legitimate oversight on your account (as in the case of MCB above). They will also give you a Case Number to use when calling. In our case, the message told me to call 866-205-8310. That IS the number of our Credit Union. And, yes, charges were being made, but not by us. Ergo, account must be closed and new cards issued. When in doubt, call the number on the back of your own credit card and ask to be connected to the Fraud Department. This should reassure you. Not everyone is a scammer and it IS better to be safe than sorry.

Reversed searched this number and it landed me on The Stephens National Bank & Trust Fraud Protection page. "If you are NOT a customer of The Stephenson National Bank & Trust, and you received the call, please contact your financial institution. It is likely your financial institution provides the same service and they are trying to reach you regarding a potentially fraudulent transaction."
