For all of you saying that chase confirms the numbers that's a lie. You have to call the number on your chase card if you have any doubts and do not confirm or deny any personal information or transaction amounts. Chase cannot confirm the numbers as they have many that send out automatic calls. CALL YOUR BANK DIRECTLY.

I got worried too when I Googled the number and saw mixed comments about it being legit or spam, and called the number on the back of my Chase debit card. The representative at Chase looked at my account, confirmed that this number WAS the Chase Fraud department, and she was able to confirm a legitimate automatic payment charge that was attempted today that didn't go through since the card was canceled yesterday by the Fraud Department representative. This number is fine!

I received 2 calls from this number about 7.30 this morning. One was on my 11 yo grandsons phone number. I have never used his number at Chase. I called the number on the back of my card and they told me that 800.355.5265 was NOT their number. They checked my account and found nothing that looked fraudulent.

This number is Chase. They are able to list my recent transactions. I don't think scammers can do that.

It was actually Chase. I received an email about confirming my account activity from the Chase Debit Card Fraud Prevention with this phone number. I recognized the fraudulent transactions and clicked no. I then received another call from the number, but did not have to give any of my account information over the phone. I explained to them the card is no longer active because I was hacked by the company listed and the rep made a note in the system.

To be safe, I called the number on the back of my Chase debit card 1-800-935-9935 and asked for the Chase Fraud Department. They told me they called and emailed me because of an unauthorized transaction was attempted on a debit card I recently closed. Before I even asked the representative verified that notes from my previous call with 800-355-5265 was in the system and Chase sent me the email.

NO THIS IS NOT CHASE. WE JUST SPOKE TO CHASE AND THEY WILL NEVER ASK YOU FOR YOUR INFORMATION "WHEN THE CALL YOU" THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR INFORMATION. SO THIS GUY IS LYING ABOUT IT BEING CHASE BANK. NEVER GIVE YOUR NUMBER OUT OVER THE PHONE UNLESS YOU CALL CHASE BANK.

This number called me shortly after I made an online donation using my Chase debit card. I called Chase immediately and they had no notes in my file indicating any calls had been made to anyone related to my account.

I have received 19 calls from this number in 2 days. I do have a chase account but they DO NOT have my Skype phone number and that is what they are calling. They have NEVER been given that number and have always reached me at the numbers I gave the bank if there is an issue and have no problem with them calling the number on my card at which time there is something. However, there are TWO people that have handed out my skype phone number....and I have had this number for YEARS and they must have horrible financial issues because I get calls for them constantly. My guess is more of their stuff. Could be the same for others. Just thought I would pass it on.

This was a legitimate Chase phone call. I verified it by calling the number on the back of my debit card. There was a small ($7.35) charge to a store 1500 miles from where I live at 1 a.m. the night before. Chase began trying to contact me at about 7 a.m.. I'm glad they caught it and fixed it. They even credited me back the fraudulently debited amount. Thanks Chase! - Steve in Tempe, AZ

Guys, some of the posters here may not be trusted!! I received two calls from 800-355-5265, but after calling Chase at the back of my credit card, Chase knew nothing about it, and they even logged the phone number down and said that they would investigate on behalf of Chase customers. Do NOT call this number back!

In my case, it was not a scam. Some of the reports here, I do think are a replication of the Fraud Prevention Service provided by Chase. I first received an email listing the last 4 transactions that I did indeed make. But the email wanted me to click links saying either 'yes, I did make these charges' or 'no, at least one of these charges are not legit'. I hovered over the link to see the site address, and while it did specify a chase.com/ beginning, I was still a little freaked out especially after reading some of these posts. I just called the number on the back of my card. The FIRST guy (yes, I ended up calling again) said that my account was fine at that there was no fraud alert, and to not click anything on the email or the text I received. He also had me forward the email to the abuse@chase.com address for them to look into it. I was satisfied, but still really freaked out that a scammer was able to access my legitimate transactions. I then received a phone call from 800-355-5265. I listened to the voice mail - they gave me a reference number to specify when I called back. SO, I called the number on the back of my card again, and explained about my last call to Chase, and asked her to see if she could verify the number that just called. She said that it was indeed one of their Fraud Prevention numbers and that it was ok to call and verify whether or not I made specific transactions. Which I was about to freak out about someone having all my transaction information, so very glad she was able to verify the number. So I called the number. I did not provide the reference number they left in my voicemail, but automated system was able to identify me anyway, probably from the number I was calling from. The next question was to verify my zip code, out of 4 given options (one of which was correct, and all were similar to the real zip). Then the system listed the same last four transactions and asked me to press '1' if I truly made them (which I had) or '2' if I hadn't. Then the call was over, and a 3 question survey commenced about the Fraud Prevention Service. I was never asked any other information at all. I imagine there is a scam out there that mimics this service, but in my case, it was fine. Though I'm not sure why people are saying that this number has been 'verified' to not be a chase number. It's the same number that I verified today, so not sure if some of the customer service reps just don't know what they're doing or what. I guess the first guy implied that it was a scam, but I didn't check the number with him the first time I called - only the second time. Hope this helps - just call the number on the back of your card... multiple times, if you have to!

This is a valid, legit chase number. I called chase with the number on their website and when i asked for their direct fraud dept number, this is the number that they gave me. I dont know why some people are saying this number is a scam.

This IS Chase. They sent me a text notifyuing me of fraudulent charges which HAD been made with my account, as well as an email. Then they called. The didn't ask me for any account information, just to verify my name. The man was clearly able to access the transactions on my account and he said they would be cancelling my debit card and sending me a replacement. No information given. No scam involved.
