Received a call from 800-427-5933 (John or Tom??). Claimed to be a debt collector. Caller did not even identify what the name of the corporation was. Told me I had a deliquent Nextel account for $800.00. I told him I never had a Nextel account. Then I asiked him to send me verification of the debt. He said I don't have to, because Nextel already verified the debt, that is how I got your name. I asked how old the debt was, and he could not answer. He said okay, I am going to put in the records that you acknowledge the debt. Let's settle for $500.00. What is your credit card number? Seriously?? I said you have not heard one thing I said, YOU need to verify the debt - its not the other way aroundI. I'm not giving you one penney. He then said, why do you keep saying "Nextel", maybe its a Spring account. You know they change hands:" Is he kidding me?? Clearly a scam.

The caller identified herself as Debra Brook. Wanted my spouse to return her call for a "business matter".

Calls repeatedly. Recorded message starts with perky female voice greeting me by first name. Then hangs up.

This person calls and wants me to verify my address and give him information, yet he will never give me information about what this debt is he's claiming to collect and where it is from. I have hung up on someone from this number twice now. Remembering a friend of mine whose retirement pension was put on hold and her daughters savings account made inaccessible for months. She had to set a hearing and go to court. Thankfully they weren't able to garnish her pension but it took some undoing before this bogus company released her daughters savings for a debt that was not hers.

In the message, they claimed that they were a debt collection agency. They asked to contact them about a "very important business matter."
