This is NOT an IRS collector, But is known to be running an IRS Scam. From IRS:
Before you are contacted by a private collection agency, you will receive two letters. The IRS will first send Notice CP40 and Publication 4518 PDF. These let you know that your overdue tax account was assigned to a private collection agency. The private collection agency then sends their initial contact letter. It has information on how to resolve your overdue taxes.
Both letters contain a taxpayer authentication number. It’s used to confirm your identity. It’s also for you to verify that the caller is legitimate.
They list three collection agencies and this number is NOT one of them. IF you get a real person at this number its a scam. Most people are getting dead air. BLOCK THIS NUMBER!!
Every freaking day, I always ignored until today, I answered to cuss someone, they hung up without a word. Seems like another broken auto caller running like a few years ago.
I just don't even answer them anymore. They call my house at least once or twice a week.
Keep calling no one there when answered!

If the IRS sells your debt to a collection agency which you did not contract with and they didn't get the money, what makes a debt collector get your money. NONSENSE. The biggest debt collectors is the IRS all of which are scammers.
