Said they were Citibank confirming an application. Spent more than an hour w Citibank w the number listed on their website (not the number on the voice mail). Citibank transferred me back and forth at least 10xs and still couldn’t give me an answer. From this experience, I will never open a Citibank card bc their customer service is frustrating and subpar. Still don’t know if it was a legit call or not.

This is spooky. I just called Citibank to find out where my new card was bc I should have gotten it by now. Hours later I get this call and msg from Citicard saying there was fraudulent activity on the card I haven't gotten yet. If it doesn't make sense, it's probably a SCAM.

I received a call from Citibank Visa informing me about possible fraudulent activity on a card that I have yet to receive. Left on my answering machine I had a message to call 1-800-825-0393 and the person also left a reference #. I called Costo where I applied for the card told them about the situation and she connected me to their fraudulent department. The gal there said (after she ask for the reference #) that they had indeed tried to reach me to verify that I had a applied for a Costo Visa. However, and this is really strange. I called that # 1-800 and unless I dialed wrongly I got a guy wanting to sell me Western Music CD's. Go figure.

This is Citi's Fraudulent Applications department. The verified @AskCiti representative on Twitter gives out this number

I just received a call from Citibank (professional sounding female) stating that a Hilton Signature Visa card was recently opened in my name. I was told to call 1-800-825-0390. A ref # was provided to discuss the matter. I received a 2nd call from another person 15 min later, a male who sounded unprofessional who told me to call the citibank credit card # (a legit # of 1-800-950-5114). An additional call went to my husband. When I called citibank credit card, they could not find an account with my name and address. I refused to give my SSN to even them. I highly suspect the whole thing is fraudulent and will call the Transition Credit Bureau.

I also received a letter from Citibank Early Warning, stating that an account was recently opened in my name. It had this number listed to call. It went on to say there was suspicious activity. I never opened a card. What number is a legitimate number to call and check on this?

1-800-825-0393 - yes, this is fraud. they left a voice mail message saying they were with CITICARD, "not citibank" but easily confused. then give you a reference number and application number to call back with but when you call the 800 number, you need to input a credit card number and when you cannot, they ask for your social to clear it up. FRAUD, FRAUD, FRAUD....

Just got off phone with CitiBank and any letters telling you to call this number because of suspicious activity is fraudulent. They have reported this number. DO NOT give any personal info to this number. SCAM
