Caller said he was with Windows Tech Dept (NOT true since it would have been Microsoft) .

Got the same virus risk rhetoric, dada...Played with him for a while. He knew my name and email address...probably from whois records for domain names I own. finally he called me grade school bully name. I laughed and hung up, blocked the call. Always find these type conversations #'s on scam reporting sites like this. ThaNKS ADMIN.

Scam for sure. Not a native English speaker. Claimed that my computer was sending logs into Microsoft and that he wanted to troubleshoot it. I messed around with him until he hung up. Haha.

Scam involving error messages that my computer was reporting to windows recovery center. Apparently this con is as follows: 1. He talks you into downloading malware 2. He claims that you have an "illegal" version of Windows and charges you for the license. In reality the malware downloaded is causing problems. He went on to try to convince me to download the "diagnostic software". He went on and detailed that daily my computer has sent in error reports. I played with him until he told me that he was going to lock my computer. I run Linux. The best advice I have is to talk to them as long as you can, they pay by the minute to call you. Maybe if everyone starts costing them money they will stop.

scam with ransomware. Asks for money to unlock your computer. Claims to be with windows and will lock the computer up due to illegal software
