I got a letter from them that I inquired a loan. I didn't apply for a loan. I call the number they provided 1-800-669-6607. They ask for my last 4 ss#. Also stated that the conversation would be recorded. I didn't provide any. Google this phone number and it's a spam.

This 1-800-669-6607 number is the original toll free number Countrywide Home Loans had for it's customer service years ago. When BofA bought Countrywide, BofA retained this number for "one" of it's home loans servicing departments. It appears that not only does this number not go to BofA's Customer Service, but BofA has setup a faux phone network to hide and disuade us home owners that were original Countrywide customer. If you call that number, you will probably be diverted to BofA Debt Collector that handles the modified loans, and who have their own agenda. I don't know who these people are, but their ultimate goal is to get you into modifying your loan (more charges, fees, wait times, trial periods, and other legalized scamming techniques) that will, over time, downgrade your credit worthiness, set you that much farther back in your mortgage payoff, and it makes them (whoever they are) more profit. Also, note, hardly ever, never, ever will anyone call you from that number. They have too many form letters and automatic emails to bother to call you. It's not difficult for a 9th grade computer novice to purchase software that can emulate BofA's phone number, call you will scant information, then get you to reveal highly valuable data. Tell them to send you the information in the mail, if they ask for your address---hang up! Also, if your name is on the deed to your home, or you think your name is on the deed to your home, find out who receives your property or real estate tax payments (that's in cases where your mortgager is paying it for you) and verify you still own your home. These scams have been successful in creditably changing homeowner to someone else, while you are still responsible for the mortgage----and you would never even know it.

Said they were from Bank of American and asked why I had defaulted on this monts payment. Which has already been paid. Also wanted to know how much my payments were a month, then asked for last 4 numbers of my social. I asked the persons name and he said it was Chris ext. 4069. What a bunch of bull--------.

The call is from a collection agency calling for Bank of America. All my dealings with Bank of America have been turned over to a lawyer. Why they're calling I don't know.

I received an automated phone call yesterday on my cell phone asking if I was the person they asked to speak to and confirm my zip code over the phone. Said it was Bank of America, which is the bank I have a current mortgage with. I refuse to just give out information unless they can verify who they are.
Today I received a call from the 1-800-669-6607 number from a woman this time who claims to be from Bank of America. She asked me to confirm some information for her before she can continue. I asked her how I know she's really from Bank of America, she said to call the 800 number back and they will confirm it. Instead, I googled the number and found there are many complaints that this is spam.

Find out what state Bank of America is based in, and file a report with the attorney general of that state as well as the Better Business Bureau. Bank of America isn't at the top of anyone's "good" list right now so they can't do more than TRY to intimidate you. Don't let them. The fact that their scam artists are in India and not in America doesn't help their already faded image. We got a call on a land line at work and the person asked by name for someone who wasn't here. I took the message and the first thing she said was she needed to tell me our conversation may be recorded...just to take a number? I asked her what company she was with, and silence. I just said "never mind, I'll google you" which I did and it brought me here. Maybe it's Bank of America, maybe Countrywide, but either way it's one of those scumball companies that made the economy worse. Don't have any mercy on them, they had none on us.

The caller identified herself from Bank of America. She got my name correct and asked for the last 4 digit of my social before she can continue with the purpose of the call. I did not give it and she said ok and hang-up.
