Scam call DO NOT CALL SCAM CALL

This message is a scam. I do not have a BOA card so they clearly are trying to get people to call and share their personal details

I got a text saying ATM debut charges had been denied and asked if I had made them, then I got a recorded call. Problem is, the name and account number of the denied debit card are not mine ... and the phone number they called is not one that is associated with my BOA account. Not sure if this is a legit account incorrectly linked to my phone number or a sophisticated scam. There is no way to call ( since the automatic phone system requires account info or card info to get connected — and the website has no chat — they tell you to call. So, the poor woman whose account has been compromised ( if she exists) is out of luck. I told them NO —I hadn’t made the charges —before realizing it was not my account) so they purportedly blocked the card. At least that way no one can charge — good guys or bad guys. If legit, it’s a crazy system.

This is not Bank of America. I have my account setup for text messages only. I got an email...no text. I called BOA and confirmed that the email was not from them and that the number was bogus. There was nothing wrong with my account.

This is not a scam number. I'm not sure why people are saying that it is. I made a pretty high purchase and was declined at first, but then accepted upon the second swipe. My bank is Bank of America, and right after the declined one, I got a text (similar to ones quoted here) from BoA, I called them and verified all the info and everything is fine. Quote saying this is a scam number; it is NOT!

Bank of America contacted me regarding fraudulent use of my card. I confirmed it on the Bank of America website. I don't know why some people have said this is a scam. Bank of America also sent me a text message with this phone number, and with a list of the fraudulent charges.

Definitely fraud: the last 4 digits was not a card of ours and we don't bank with Bank of America.

I got a text from 844-585-0485:
FREE TEXT: Bank of America has temporarily restricted the use of your debit card #XXXX due to unusual activity. Call 844-585-0485. To Opt Out reply STOP. This is word for word, except for the debit card # which is the last four numbers of the debit card that I just had to report and replace because I got hacked. My bank caught the unusual activity and put a hold on my account right before I caught it. Be careful, they are scammers and they tried for me again in just under a month. I guess they think some people will fall for it.

This was a legitimate number. I called the Bank and there was a hold on my account due to unusual activity. The activity was me purchasing in the wee hours of the morning! Once I verified that I attempted the transaction and the amount along with several other transactions the restriction was released. I did not have to provide an account number, I just called from the phone number that they have on file.

My call / text was legitimately from Bank of America. I received a text about fraudulent activity saying to call this #. I didn't, I called the # on the back of my card and they verified they contacted me to notify me of the suspicious activity, shortly after that call ended, i received a call from this #.

I recently had my wallet stolen. The worst scum imaginable stole my credit cards and tried using them at a local target. The following day I get a call with a recorded female voice sounding very convincing. She said that the fraud department had some questions related to suspicious activity on my account. They said in order to proceed we need the last four digits of your social security number. At this point I hung up and called Bank of America. BOA told me that they would never call and ask that. Be careful.

Just got a call from this number saying ATM debt card fraud protection and asked if I was so and so to which I immediately hung up. Some of these calls will try to get you to respond and record you saying "yes" and use the recording. I cant get ahold of boa right now sadly, Saturday night 9pm

Was a legitimate claim from BOA for me too. Someone stole my debit card #. They froze my account in response.

Got a text message from 399-89 to call this number because my debit card and been temporarily restricted. It's Bank of America's ATM services department. I checked my online banking and got the same notice there, so I called, a rep reviewed my purchases with me, and removed the hold. Scammers may be pirating this number, but in my case it was legitimate.
