It prohibits debt collectors employed by third party collection agencies from engaging in any form of debt collector harassment, but the Act's provisions do not cover collectors hired by the original creditors themselves.

When you meet with officers please ask what number was called and verify with the so called place or person it was from. Report to federal trade commission & fair debt collection practices act. Ignore because these debt buyers do not have the original documents to collect once company writes it off. Buying people debts for pennies scam.
