Called and left a message saying it's very important I call them back and left a reference number. Exact script as reported online. When I called, I did not give my reference number, and asked if they were American Express. The individual with Indian accent and name (same one that left the message) refused to tell me the name of the company. He said he's "unable" to give out any information without a reference number. When asked for a supervisor, he put me on a long hold and then said they're all busy and I should call back. He gave me an amex number that I could use to verify his company. I did call them as that number is listed on amex website. They said my account is fine and it's probably phishing.

Given how commonly this number is used, it would be good if amex could ask "what phone number was it" and then say "yes, that number is a known phishing scam."

Don't give them any information. Note that because it's a toll free number, you can't block your caller ID, which might mean you get even more spam in the future.

Just called me. They said I was dealing directly with American Express. Googled his contact number and found this site. Advised him I am willing to discuss options for repayment but not with them. They just proved they cannot be trusted.

called me and I don't have anything to do with AMEX when I asked what the person's name they were calling was they said they could not tell me and said they would transfer after a few minutes I hung up

I believe this company either contracts with or is a division of American Express. However they only call when I am at work and they never answer when I call back. I have called after I got off work only to be put on hold so long that when my call finally rang through, I got the after hours message.

They are not a part of American Express because their customer service is terrible. Why should I have to beg and run people down to pay them?

Indian accent - claimed to be with American Express and when questioned about actually being first source advantage pretending to be American Express, guy got defensive and said they truly are AmeX etc etc. Couldn't locate the information and asked for personal information which wouldn't be provided. Will be reporting them and this number to anything possible to expose these scum bags! Hopefully other people will look up the phone number prior to calling back and spread the word to others. Bogus and a scam! Several comments indicate when you contact AmeX directly they have no idea or involvement with this. Nice try scammers!

Firstsource Advantage, an independent debt collection agency, attempting to collect on an American Express debt , trying to make it appear that this call is in fact coming from American Express,American Express had nothing to do with these calls

many calls there is no message.
refuses to remove number and place on do not call and have asked for them to contact only via us postal

Sounded Pakistani or Indian. Would not identify themselves, kept asking for someone I don't know.
