The message was advertising a mortgage. It started with the phrase: "The President has authorized decreased mortgages...". I don't remember the whole phrase.

POed Verizon Customer

Had new Verizon service installed. Next day started receiving these calls. Only one of the answered calls played the automated message. These calls violate federal law and you should file complaints (as I just have) with the State Attorney General's Office, the Better Business Bureau, NJ Board of Public Utilities and the FCC. Perhaps if enough complaints get lodged against Verizon some official might actually stand up and do their job and force Verizon to obey the law and respect their customers. Automated phone dialing systems are required to leave an understandable identification of the calling company. Further automated dialing system are not allowed to disguise, hide, falsely claim, or misrepresent the status of a number and must provide an alternate contact number when dialing into the number that may be displayed on a caller identification system. Verizon does not identify their company and falsely represents the number as not in service when dialing into this number. Lastly, automated calling systems are limited to a maximum of 1 call per day and no more than 4 calls in a single week. I've already received 3 calls today alone.
