What is a Government Scam Call?

Robocalls that consist of a caller trying to pose as any type of government agency is referred to as a "government scam" call. During these calls, a person will try to convince you that they are an employee of a government agency and that you owe them money or are wanted for arrest. They make these calls in hopes that their victims will wire them money out of the fear of being arrested. You should know, that no government agency will call you and ask you to wire them money over the phone. The most common form of a government scam is the caller pretending to be an IRS employee, and they will tell you that you must send them money to their bank account in order to not be arrested. Other forms of these calls are people pretending to be a part of the Social Security Administration, the FBI, a local police department, or Medicare. These calls can be very convincing as they will know your name, address, and social security number, but you should not trust them. If you are unsure if you are speaking to a government agency or not, you can call the real agency to confirm that it was not them calling you.

this number has been calling several times a day every day including weekends, they hatve called so many times I have the number memorized. I traced the number and regarless of what anybody says about this number IT IS A SCAM and if anyone is on the side of this number, more than likely they are associated with this number. Do not give them any information and if they try to use intimidation tactics tell them you'll turn them in I'm trying another approach, hopefully it will work, every time this number calls, I'm calling them back to give them an ear full and see how they like it. I hope this works

NEVER call a collector to arrange ANYTHING! You should only address a collector if they lodge a court complaint against you in your local area. Believe me, I say this from experience, there is NEVER a good time to speak with a creditor unless you want to try and negotiate a debt that you actually want to pay off. But even in these cases it is difficult to trust any collector that they will honor that agreement.

Simply block their number and forget submitting to unethical harassment by the likes of ''Penn Credit'' (it's probably a guy working out of his kitchen anyway).

They may be a legitimate collection agency, but they are also extremely aggressive and I have no doubt they try to collect on flimsy or non-existent debts. They will not stop calling and I checked my credit report -- NO DEBTS. My credit score is over 800 and has been for a decade. They likely are trying to collect on debts that no longer exist and hoping they can scam people into paying twice. SCUM.

Received a total of 45 calls from this number between 05-11-27 and 07-08-17. I don't answer, but how annoying! Reading all of the posts on this number, I'm really surprised these people are allowe to continue operating.

They have called my number twice, and left a message that they need to talk to....... regarding a personal business matter. The name they give is recorded and I cannot understand the first name. I can pick out my last name. Seems like they intentionally garbled the name. Sounds like a scam to me. Caller did not leave a name. Message was left on my voice mail.
